چکیده

Abstract Many of the current farm management methods that utilize production techniques tend to add soil compaction problem. The from wheel traffic is a key source deterioration in contemporary agriculture. Limited studies have been conducted over heavy Iraq’s southern regions understand under condition, and its effect on crop growth yield. An experiment was at two locations; with goal determining effects tractor parameters, plant development, maize production. Compaction treatments included no traffic, t0; 8 t8; 16 t16; 24 t24. To reduce compaction’s negative impacts, degrees subsoiling investigated, nonsubsoiled (NonSub) subsoiled (Sub) plots. results showed bulk density values through 10 40 cm profile after both locations increased increasing levels compaction. Root growth and yield of maize as affected by soil compaction and cover crops

The yield of rainfed crops is commonly limited by the availability of soil water during the summer growing season. Channels produced by cover crop roots in fall/winter when soils are relatively moist may facilitate the penetration of compacted soils by subsequent crop roots in summer when soils are relatively dry and hard. Our objective was to determine the effects of fall cover crops on maize ...

Tea yield and soil properties as affected by slope position and aspect in Lahijan area, Iran

Soil genesis, physico-chemical properties and tea yield were investigated along different hillslope positions in the major tea cultivation area of Iran, i.e. Lahijan, Gilan Province. Land suitability was also determined for the tea production in this hilly region. Four different slope positions i.e., summit, shoulder, backslope and toeslope were sampled on three slope aspects following the prof...

Maize productivity and nutrient use efficiency in Western Kenya as affected by soil type and crop management

Low soil fertility and high weed infestation are the main culprits for the declining maize production inWestern Kenya. Technology packages to address these constraints exist, but their effectiveness is likely to be influenced by variability in soil types and farm management practices in the region. Trials were conducted during the 2008/2009 cropping seasons to investigate the nutrient use e...

Growth of Maize Seedlings as Affected by Glucokinin and Insulin

1. Solutions of glucokinin and insulin, particularly those from which the easily dialyzable substances had been removed, increased the growth of roots and tops of young maize seedlings, as shown by comparisons with untreated seedlings grown in distilled water. 2. Strong solutions of crude glucokinin or of crude insulin repressed growth. 3. Seedlings from which the tips of the primary roots had ...
